Exploring the UK’s approach to improving the diversity in the film industry, what lessons can be learned and applied in other territories? A panel of experts will discuss interventions and initiatives such as the BFI’s Diversity Standards, which have now been formally adopted by BAFTA, BIFA and the UK’s other public funders, as well as talent-led Inclusion Riders.
How effective are they in bringing more diverse stories and talent to the screen? Do they encourage a big enough shift to ensure the industry’s workforce is more inclusive and representative?
And as films with more diverse content are generating big box office, are producers and financiers starting to understand diversity is beneficial to attracting audiences and boosting their bottom line?
