“The documentary market is expanding more and more”: Ben Braun, producer and sales agent – among others – of the acclaimed Wild Wild Country docuseries, said it today.
Today, Braun has brought its professional know-how to the creation of leading and innovative products, with great appeal for international markets. The panel “Conversation with Ben Braun: new strategies for the production and sale of documentaries” during which the American producer gave an overview of the state of work in the sector, was held today at the Hotel Bernini.
Among the various topics discussed during the conversation with Ben Braun, a very interesting overview of the documentary sector emerged, which the producer describes as follows: “The documentaries market is going to be a really big thing. So many companies are entering the market right now, every year the landscape change a lot”.
The genre is currently gaining ground and according to the producer of Wild Wild Wild Country “If we want people to enter the documentaries’ market, we must build a relationship with them”. In fact, even on the production side, according to Ben Braun “With Wild Wild Country as a reference, the human part is fundamental in the documentaries market”. But if it’s true that the sector is constantly expanding, it’s also true that making top products is becoming more and more difficult “For selling something” – confirms Braun – “in terms of producing, budget can scale dramatically. In my perspective, there are tons and tons of projects, buyers can be confused but they are really excited about them”.
