Corpo a Corpo by Maria Iovine wins the Millennial Visionary Award of the second edition of Visionarie.
The documentary, starring the Paralympic athlete Veronica Yoko Plebani, is a production of L’Age d’Or.
The award – given by the Scientific Committee chaired by Giuliana Aliberti, creator and director of Visionarie and composed by Gloria Malatesta (CSC), Anna Negri (Scuola Volonté), Antonella Barbieri (APA), Chiara Sbarigia (Cinecittà Luce), WIFTMI Women in Film, Television & Media Italia, Gabriella Gallozzi (Bookciak Magazine) and Marilena Citelli Francese (Associazione Musadoc) – was assigned with the following motivation:
“[…] Maria, as a true Visionary, stages Veronica’s stalking increasingly close yet with the right distance of grace and modesty. Thus showing us the double body to body of the athlete: against the stereotypes of feminine beauty and normality and against the physical fatigue that for Veronica is harder than anything else. A beautiful encounter between Visionaries, therefore, together with the gaze of Angela Prudenzi, the producer, who suggested to Maria to launch herself into this new body to body”.
Corpo a Corpo was presented in the Italians Doc it Better section of MIA 2020, the showcase dedicated to Italian documentaries not yet distributed.
