Last night, 12th September 2022, in the splendid setting of the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, Kenan Thompson hosted the 74th Emmy Awards.

The awards ceremony was attended by some of the most influential personalities in American and world television. These included, to name but a few, Amy Poehler, Jimmy Kimmel, Jun Ho-yeon, Sarah Paulson, Selena Gomez and RuPaul Charles. There were also many performances on stage, including John Legend with a song from his latest album.

Considered the Oscars of television, the Emmy Awards were created by the Academy of Television Arts & Science. The first awards ceremony was held in Los Angeles in January 1949, and during the 1950s they gained international prominence. Twenty years later, they underwent the historic split between prizes reserved for prime-time programmes and those for daily programming.

The most awarded series in this year’s edition was The White Lotus, which was also one of the series with more nominations, with a total of 10 awards, followed closely by Euphoria and Squid Game, the celebrated South Korean series, both with 6 awards.
