Born in 1963 Ravensburg, Germany.
As Director of Acquisitions & Coproductions Feature Films at ZDF Studios Margrit Staerk buys, finances & coproduces feature films for the German broadcaster ZDF.
Margrit took up studies in Film and German Literature at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich and graduated in 1990. After university she worked as freelancer at TV stations and publishing houses and as a product manager at Merchandising Munich, a division of former Kirch Group. At the same time, she continued her studies in Media Marketing and graduated in 1994. In 1995 she moved from Munich to Mainz to start her job at ZDF Enterprises, now called ZDF Studios.
In addition to her TV activities Margrit is also one of the cofounders of the SI STAR Award which focuses on German speaking female directors and their newest projects.
Since its implementation in 2015 Margrit is eager and passionate to share her insights during workshops, panels, and festivals especially on women in film and media and how to empower future female filmmakers in their ongoing fight for market awareness and better working conditions.
