Focus on international co-productions. How to realize co-production projects with the financial support of IDM Film Commission Südtirol. Since its founding in 2010, IDM Film Commission Südtirol has financed more than 300 projects including films, documentaries, TV series, and short films. IDM Film Commission is a trusted partner for producers who choose South Tyrol as their film location, a territory that is increasingly establishing itself in the Italian and international film panorama. As a matter of fact, the strategic position of the region – located between Italy and its neighboring countries – as well as its distinctive bilingualism, make South Tyrol the perfect spot for international co-productions.
The panel presents some case studies of players that have been realizing important international co-productions in South Tyrol during the last few years, giving an overview of the wide realm of possibilities that this territory offers to the film industry. The panel aims to provide insights from “behind the scenes” in South Tyrol, starting from the experiences of three different international co-productions who have chosen to seek financial support and set their films in this unique area. Indiana Production will be showcasing the film Lubo by Giorgio Diritti, which competed at the 80th Venice International Film Festival; Vivo film will present a case study of the second work of Francesco Jost, Deer Girl (which is in post-production at the moment) and, finally, the Bolzano-based company, Albolina Film, will be presenting Vista Mare, a documentary by Julia Gutweniger and Florian Kofler, selected for the Semaine de la critique at Locarno Film Festival back in August.
