MCU, Marvel Cinematic Universe, is a mesh of connections between the adventures of characters from Marvel comic books, woven into fine texture by movies and TV series. For this reason, the Studios have come up with a new label, Marvel Spotlight, under which to make products of an independent nature, that is, unrelated to the narrative world of the comics.
The screening of the first two episodes of the new series Echo, focusing on the events of a deaf-mute girl who heads the Tracksuit Mafia, streaming starting next Jan. 10, was the occasion to introduce the label.
The Marvel Spotlight, which already has a new logo and a new sound track signed by Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchino, who has worked with the Studios before, refers conceptually to the Marvel world of the 1970s and 1980s, and will in fact collect smaller stories centered on minor characters that can capture the attention of a wider, more adult audience.
The Ghost Rider reboot, the biker transformed into a creature from hell to become a vigilante, could fall under this designation, as could Daredevil: Born Again, a character seeking justice, by day as a lawyer and by night as a superhero. Echo, however, falls only partially under this new label.
