A new agency to promote film productions made in Rome. A commitment from the municipal administration for the creation of a film agency.
The mayor of Rome, Virginia Raggi, during a meeting at the Casa del Cinema, announced to producers and directors that a film agency will be opened in the capital with the aim of supporting the productions made in Rome. The first concrete provision of the agency will be to speed up the bureaucratic procedures that often slow down the product development: the objective is to simplify the process to an electronic request to start up a set in the city.
As every year, yesterday, May 2, those involved in the film cinema sector gathered at the Casa del Cinema to discuss with the mayor and the deputy mayor, Luca Bergamo, the future of the Roman cinema sector. In the course of the debate, in addition to the possibility of setting up a film agency, the city administration affirmed that it was ready to accept some requests from the sector workers: directors, producers, and distributors. The importance of increasing the programming for the summer months in quality and quantity was also discussed, as well as the possibility to open up to other independent film festivals and to the new TV series market.
The deputy mayor Bergamo spoke of reopening some historical movie theatres in the capital city: “there are at least three municipal cinemas that are not being used at the moment, like the Apollo, the Rialto, and the Airone, could be destined to the programming of films about the history of cinema or films in original language “. Merchants’ needs were also discussed, especially after the conflict occurred with the occupation of the Cinema America, which the municipality is trying to solve now. The administration has been asked to be more flexible in issuing licenses.
