Abruzzo will also have its Film Commission and its role will be to attract and support productions and render service to the region. The President of the Region, Marco Marsilio, during the conference chaired by representatives of institutions, Film Commissions and the film industry, at the headquarters of the Abruzzo Regional Council, announced this morning the nascent foundation and anticipated the announcement of economic resources amounting to 2 million euros for productions in the fall and about 10 million euros in total over the next 4-5 years.
President Marsilio adds that “resources must go hand in hand with the ability to compete with other territories, to become hospitable for productions, to grow and train the workers who are the key to the success of the films.”
During the conference, two political-institutional roundtables brought together institutions and representatives of the film industry with the aim of creating a “cinema system,” which involves all players in the area, public and private, starting with higher education institutes such as the Experimental Center of Cinematography, in order to enhance the Abruzzo region, its beauty and identity, at the international level.
