The docufilm Alida in Her Own Words by Mimmo Verdesca has been officially selected for Cannes Festival 2020 in the section Cannes Classic 2020.
The films in the section Cannes Classic 2020 will be premiered during Lyon Lumière Festival next October.
Mimmo Verdesca tells for the first time Alida Valli through her letters and diaries to whom Giovanna Mezzogiorno lend the voice. The docufilm is composed of exclusive testimony of many Italian and international protagonists of cinema and theatre like Roberto Benigni, Bernardo Bertolucci, Charlotte Rampling, Vanessa Redgrave, Dario Argento, Piero Tosi, Marco Tullio Giordana, Felice Laudadio, Margarethe von Trotta, Pierpaolo and Larry De Mejo, Maurizio Ponzi.
Alida in Her Own Words is a Venicefilm and Kublai Film production, in association with Istituto Luce-Cinecittà, in collaboration with Rai Cinema and with the support of Mibact and Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia e Cineteca Nazionale.
The docufilm was among the MIA 2019 Doc Pitching Forum selected projects.
