ANICA adheres to the The Rules for Ethical Behaviour in the Audiovisual Field of WIFTMI-Women in Film, Television & Media Italia and announced it during the meeting entitled From Words to Deeds. A toolbox for equality and safety in the workplace.
The Rules for Ethical Behaviour in the Audiovisual Field is the prevention tool created and adopted by the nonprofit association WIFTM Italy, but available to all and sundry against sexual harassment, intimidating acts and all forms of discrimination, gender-based violence and body shaming in the workplace and workplace studies. The legal “toolbox,” referred to in the title of the meeting, are the tools and actions already available, but not yet known enough, to move toward greater protection of the dignity of the person working in the audiovisual industry.
Francesco Rutelli, President of ANICA, defines the signing of the Rules of Ethics as “a serious and credible first step that marks an important page toward the well-being of people in the workplaces of the entire audiovisual supply chain. We cannot tolerate direct or indirect forms of overpowering, arrogant, intrusive behavior, exaggerated relational realities, and I emphasize, moreover, that those who behave in such a manner do a disservice to the entire industry. The management of power in sexist terms is still a problem today, the exercise of power through humiliation, particularly of women, must be nipped in the bud through a free and creative way of working. ANICA wants and must take charge of a new shared sensibility to prevent and counter these behaviors and any opportunistic actions, we will do this together with Hamlet, APA, MIA and the unions, whom I thank for their presence here today.”
