We are very pleased to announce, for the fourth year in a row, the prestigious Paramount+ Award which was awarded by a jury of global experts nominated by Paramount to the best project presented at the Drama Pitching Forum 2023.
Paramount+, a direct-to-consumer digital subscription video on-demand and live streaming service, launched in Italy in 2022, offers a mountain of entertainment. The premium streaming service features an expansive library of original series, hit shows and popular movies across every genre from Paramount’s world-renowned brands and production studios, including Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Pictures, SHOWTIME® and the Smithsonian Channel™.
The Paramount+ prize was awarded by Antonella Dominici, SVP Streaming South Europe, Middle East & Africa | Paramount+ and Pluto TV, during the MIA Award Ceremony and went to NON ISSUE, dramedy that tells the story of a Jewish-Palestinian couple produced by Efrat Dror for Herzelia Studios.
It has been a real pleasure meeting all the brilliant producers and writers, and to be presented with such an eclectic, thought-provoking range of projects. The quality this year has been exceptionally high, which has made our decision all the more difficult. We would like to present the Paramount+ award to a story which stood out to us for its originality, international appeal, and strong universal themes of love and identity. As a dramedy, the project balances humour and emotion in a compelling way, with a diverse mix of characters, whilst impactfully exploring the political context that underpins the central characters’ conflict and the catalyst that drives their story. This touching returnable series mixes the classic tale of Romeo & Juliet with gripping contemporary dramas, such as Unorthodox, and we feel it is a story that will resonate with a broad audience. For these reasons, the Paramount+ Award goes to NON-ISSUE created by Gal Rosenbluth and Nayef Hammoud, and produced by United Studios of Israel.
