Becoming Maestre, this is the name of the new initiative of Accademia del Cinema Italiano – Premi David di Donatello and Netflix, here how to apply.
The project will support new female talents of Italian cinema: in fact, 20 candidates under 35, who aim for becoming directors, directors of photography, sound editors, mix sound engineers, will be offered a high-level mentoring path access to work for a new generation of female talent behind the camera. To participate, you must submit your application by July 31, 2021; selections will be made by a jury composed of personalities from the entertainment industry who have won or received a nomination for the David di Donatello, they are Daniela Bassani, Luca Bigazzi, Esmeralda Calabria, Francesca Comencini, Ivan Cotroneo, Daria D’Antonio, Walter Fasano, Francesco Tumminello. They will be joined by Piera Detassis and Francesca Cima for the selection phases.
The selected candidates will be accompanied during the path by Masters and Teachers of the jury. This path will include:
- Individual tutoring sessions and group tutoring workshops: the students will be able to deepen the knowledge and skills related to their professional field;
- Collective Masterclasses: students will increase their knowledge of the trades that make up the chain of film production and serial.
The course will also include coaching sessions with experts in the field to allow students to acquire or refine complementary but essential skills ranging from how to present a project to better manage collaborations and teamwork.
At the end of the training 4 students will be selected, one for each professional field, who will be offered a job as an assistant on an Italian production in which Netflix is involved (film or TV series).
Becoming Maestre is an initiative developed as part of the Netflix Fund for Inclusive Creativity, the global fund established by Netflix that from this year and for the next 5 years will invest $20 million annually in creating more inclusive opportunities. In fact, Netflix plans to invest the first $5 million in programs aimed at identifying talented emerging women around the world, to whom will provide the professional training necessary to find jobs.
