Oppenheimer shows no sign of surrendering the top spot in the charts, grossing €8,923,000 less than a week after its theatrical release. The film, starring the physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, known for his contribution to the creation of the first atomic bomb, played by Cillian Murphy, is the best national debut for a Nolan film. Greta Gerwig’s Barbie dropped out of the top spot but did not pull away: the film took second place, grossing €1,176,791. In third place is Disney’s latest production, The Haunted Mansion, which earned €1,089,939. The film, based on Walt Disney’s famous theme park attraction, is directed by Justin Simien and features in the cast names such as Jared Leto, Lakeith Stanfield, Owen Wilson and Jamie Lee Curtis.
Undaunted by the new releases, Meg 2 – The Trench, Blue Beetle and Elemental dropped to the next positions, with respective takings of €427,298, €379,118 and €164,409.
From fourth place, Massimiliano Bruno and Edoardo Leo’s Italian comedy I Peggiori giorni drops to seventh place in the weekly chart, earning €163,968, followed by the re-release of Miyazaki’s 2013 film The wind rises and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part One, which earn €86,387 and €80,673 respectively.
La bella estate, written and directed by Laura Luchetti, a film adaptation of the novel of the same name by Cesare Pavese, released in cinemas on 24 August, is in tenth place in the ranking, grossing €69,485.
