It may be the Barbie effect, which alone accounted for half of July’s box office, the Indiana Jones sequels and Mission: Impossible, which made significant contributions, but theaters this month earned more than 40 million and recorded 5.5 million admissions.
The growth trend continues, not only June but also July passes the test of comparison with the same month in 2019, going well above pre-Covid levels and reaching +45 percent on box office and 27.5 percent on attendance. If the comparison is also extended to July 2022 and 2021, the growth becomes very high, +138% and +195% respectively.
Mirroring this is the podium of distributors, which sees Warner taking the gold medal with over 20 million euros in box office for a 50 percent market share. Followed by Disney, which takes 20 percent of the market with a box office of 8 million, and Eagle, whose slice is 16.9 percent with a 6.7 million box office take. Last on the list are Universal 2.8 percent and 01 Distribution 2.2 percent.
