Cartoon Italia, the National Association of Animation Producers, founded to support and promote the animation industry domestically and abroad, is celebrating its 25th anniversary. On the occasion of this anniversary, the conference “Teaching Animation Today: New Resources for a New Industry,” sponsored by Cartoon Italia and Asifa Italia, was held at the headquarters of Anica – Associazione Nazionale Industrie Cinematografiche Audiovisive, to investigate how the world of education is responding to the growing demand for professionals.
“The animation industry is going through a phase of development, a growth capable of creating such a demand for qualified professionals that Cartoon Italia has pushed it to forge new synergies with Anica Academy, the Polytechnic of Turin and the Catholic University. For animation it is a period full of opportunities: the enthusiasm and commitment of all of us and the creative vivacity of the new recruits bode well for the future of Italian animation, a future that we are certain will be international in scope,” said Undersecretary for Culture Lucia Borgonzoni, opening the conference.
As Francesco Rutelli, president of Anica, points out, “the celebration of 25 years of the history of Cartoon Italia, gives us the opportunity to remember the successes and growth of the sector so far, to reason together about the challenges of the present for the animation industry, and to talk about the future and new professionals. The current configuration of Cartoon Italia demonstrates its ability to achieve important results, also thanks to the support of public entities, starting with the Ministry of Culture and Rai, without losing sight of the goals still to be achieved, also in terms of increasing the resources invested.”
