Here is the allocation of the unused funds for the year 2017 and their purpose:
The unused funds destined to the audiovisual and the cinema industry in 2017, which adds up to about €27million and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism (Mibact) have provided for the allocation of these resources. An amount of €2m will be used for writing, development, production, and distribution of cinematographic projects both nationally and internationally. Another €18m have been directed to audiovisual promotion activities aimed specifically at developing film culture in Italy, the internationalization of the market and the communication Italy’s image through cinema production. Part of those €18m euros for promotion will also be invested in the organization of events, festivals, reviews and awards both in Italy and abroad.
The Istituto Luce Cinecittà, which this year has received 2 more million euros than in 2017, will enjoy another €9m injection and 200 thousand euros for the implementation of their activity program. The Cinema Section of the “Biennale di Venezia” will receive €3m euros for institutional activities, while the “Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia” Foundation will receive €4.5 million euros. Furthermore, 50,000 and 70,000 euros will be allocated respectively to support the activities of the National Cinema Museum of the “Maria Adriana Prolo” Foundation and the “Cineteca di Bologna” Foundation. The remaining unused resources of the year 2017 will be reallocated later by decree, always with the objective of developing and strengthening the promotion of cinematographic activities.
