Shooting in progress in Rome for Domina. The new Sky Original series is produced by Fifty Fathoms (Fortitude) and Sky Studios, with Cattleya as executive production service.

Domina is an epic drama about the life and rise of Livia Drusilla, who after many hardships becomes the most powerful woman in the world. The main character will be played by Kasia Smutniak (Perfect Strangers, Loro, Devils), along with an international cast: Liam Cunningham (Game of Thrones), Matthew McNulty (Misfits), Christine Bottomley (The End of the F***ing World), Colette Tchantcho (The Witcher), Ben Batt (Captain America: The First Avenger), Enzo Cilenti (Free Fire), Claire Forlani (Meet Joe Black), and Isabella Rossellini (Blue Velvet, Death Becomes Her) as guest star.

The drama series is created and written by Simon Burke (Zen, Fortitude). Claire McCarthy (Ophelia, The Luminaries) is directing the project and also serves as executive producer alongside Burke, Patrick Spence, Marcus Wilson and Faye Dorn, with John Phillips producing.

Nicola Maccanico, Executive Vice President Programming Sky Italia, said: “Domina is an international production and we are very proud of its strong Italian roots. It is a great epic drama that brings to life Ancient Rome again but from a different perspective – that of the women – and reshapes our view of them. They are the masters of their fate and fiercely pursue their ambitions and ultimately, the conquest of power.”

Domina will air exclusively in all Sky territories in Italy, the UK, Ireland and Germany. NBCUniversal Global Distribution will handle the international rights outside those territories.
