The second call launched by EFAD – European Film Agency Directors association, of the European Solidarity Fund call for Ukrainian films, also financed by the Ministry of Culture, opens. The establishment of the Fund had been announced last February during the Berlin Film Festival. EFAD, in this way, wanted to support Ukrainian filmmakers by supporting the completion of films or the development of new projects.
During the first round last March, 11 projects had already been selected by a committee of experts, and on this occasion, until September 1, 2023, all those feature-length films that meet the following prerequisites will be eligible:
– are directed by a Ukrainian filmmaker and intended for first theatrical release.
– are in the genres of fiction, documentary and animation.
– are co-produced between a Ukrainian production company and a production company established in ESFUF contributing countries (Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, and the United Kingdom).
An important requirement remains that in the event of a second submission of the same project, an additional note must be provided explaining the reasons for the new filing and the changes regarding the artistic and financial aspects of the project.
