On the thirty-fourth anniversary of the Chernobyl tragic event, Rai1 will exclusively broadcast the documentary Samosely – Illegal residents of Chernobyl this Sunday, in the frame of the Speciale TG1.
The documentary, written and directed by Fabrizio Bancale and produced by Jump Cut, has been created by Giancarlo Pagliara and Pavlina Dumanska. The film is about the “resistance” of that part of the Ukrainian population who never left their land: the Samosely, the illegal residents of Chernobyl who survived the radiation but were forced to isolate themselves from the rest of the world.
Fabrizio Bancale was welcomed into their houses and lived for a week in their company, with the opportunity to gather the reflections of the Samosely people and their irreducible strength in the suggestive images of a compelling documentary.
Samosely – The illegal residents of Chernobyl was presented for the first time in 2017 at the Pesaro Doc Festival and won the Quality Jury Grand Prize at the Social World Film Festival and for best feature film at the Fausto Rossano Prize. The title was presented during the MIA 2019 edition, within the Italians Doc it Better section.
