Fremantle and Israeli financier IBI investment House begin partnership to launch a €150m (USD160m) fund to finance international film and scripted TV projects.
During a four-year deal Fremantle and IBI Fund will work closely creating a funding model to fast-track the production and greenlight each project, providing the best route to market. The distribution of all TV projects approved will be managed by Fremantle International. The Fremantle’s global drama team, CEO Christian Vesper, will also benefit each production with their creative oversight.
Guy Hameiri (co-founder of Fremantle company Abot Hameiri) who will become CEO of the new fund, led the deal with Andrea Scrosati (group chief operating officer and CEO Continental Europe, Fremantle).
Currently the IBI Fund is producing three projects: feature film biopic Maria, from Pablo Larraín and starring Angelina Jolie; drama series Shelter, created and written by Jim Keeble and Dudi Appleton and drama series Generation Loss, based on the bestseller by Elizabeth Hand.
