The 14th edition of GiornatedegliAutori presents a line-up of 12 films announced by Director Giorgio Gosetti. There are three Italian works: The Contagion (Il Contagio) by Matteo Botrugno and Daniele Coluccini, based on the novel by Walter Siti and produced by Kimera Film, Notorious Pictures, Gekon Productions and Rai Cinema; L’Equilibrio by Vincenzo Marra, produced by Cinemaundici, Lama Film and Rai Cinema; Where the Shadows Fall (Dove Cadono le Ombre), the debut film of director Valentina Pedicini (Fandango, Rai Cinema).
Among the other films in competition, there’s Looking for Oum Kulthum by Iranian director Shirin Neshat (winner of the Silver Lion for Best Director in 2009 for Women Without Men), co-produced with Germany and Austria. The film project was present at Rome’s New Cinema Network (NCN) in 2013.
Among the special screenings: the biopic Agnelli, a film by American director Nick Hookeron Gianni Agnelli’s life; the newfound documentary Il Tentato Suicidio dell’Adolescenza by Ermanno Olmi, a valuable record on the first years of operation of the psychiatric ward in Milan’s Policlinic Hospital in 1968, when there was an alarming number of suicides among the youngest people; The Resolute (Il Risoluto), a film by Giovanni Donfrancesco about the tragedy of the child soldiers during the Fascist period; I’m (Endless Like the Space) by Anna-Riita Ciccone, a film on a girl with a double identity on the web; La Legge del Numero Uno by Alessandro d’Altari tells the story of three men in jail contesting to land the first place for an audience with a judge, which is their last hope to gain freedom. The other two films of the special screenings section are Raccontare Venezia by Wilma Labate and a short film by Claudio Santamaria, The Millionairs, produced by director Gabriele Marinetti.
