The International Documentary Festival “Visioni da Mondo”, now in its ninth edition, confirms that documentary film is increasingly taking its place among film genres.

President Francesco Bizzarri explains that the title of the festival Listening with the Eyes is “an invitation to tune the mind, the eyes and the heart to live intensely. Because a true observer is the one who also listens through the eyes.” It is listening, in fact, that guides the viewing of the festival’s opening film The Stones and Brian Jone, by director Nick Broomfield, which chronicles the life of Brian Jones, founder of the band, who was kicked out over misunderstandings and died of drugs at only 27 years old.

The documentaries selected by Visions from the World tell, above all, about today’s world. “Many topical issues are present in the films in competition, from war to new technologies, from the regimes of Iran and Iraq to biographies. Like Meneghin. Storia del più grande cestista italiano di tutti i tempi about the great basketball champion,” adds President Bizzarri.

The program, signed by artistic director Maurizio Nichetti, in addition to national and international premieres, also includes workshops, events and the Premio alla Carriera Visioni dal Mondo 2023, which will be given to Roberto Andò, this edition’s special guest.

The festival will take place in Milan from September 14 to 17, 2023, touching on several iconic venues in the city: the Teatro Litta, the Cineteca Milano Arlecchino and the Leonardo da Vinci National Museum of Science and Technology. It will also be possible to follow it at www.visionidalmondo.it through the web theaters of the Italian streaming platform MYmovies.
