A backstage video of Io, Leonardo, based on the eclectic Italian artist Leonardo Da Vinci’s life, will premiere at the Giffoni Film Festival (19-27 July 2019). The film is produced by Sky with Progetto Immagine and will be distributed in Italy by Lucky Red on September 26, 2019. For the event, Giffoni Film Festival has planned a masterclass entitled Io, Leonardo alla scoperta degli effetti speciali del film.
Leonardo Da Vinci is played by Luca Argentero. Alongside the actor, there will be Angela Fontana as Cecilia Gallerani and Massimo De Lorenzo as Ludovico il Moro. The narrative voice is by Francesco Pannofino. Leonardo’s inventions have been reproduced thanks to different techniques and special effects which will be presented during the masterclass at Giffoni Film Festival (Friday, July 19). At the premiere, there will be the director Jesus Garces Lambert, the executive producer for Sky Dimitri Cioffi, the post-production supervisor Valentina Corti and the art directors, for Sky Vincenzo Cilurzo and for Galactus Giuseppe Squillaci.
The film received the patronage of the Comitato Nazionale per le Celebrazioni dei 500 anni dalla morte di Leonardo Da Vinci and the Comitato Scientifico del Palinsesto Milano Leonardo 500, as well as the Riconoscimento dell’Anno Europeo del Patrimonio Culturale. It also obtained the Patronage of Comune di Firenze, Comune di Milano and Comune di Vinci, and is produced with the participation of Bosch and in collaboration with Artech Digital Cinema, Bottega Tifernate and the Leonardo da Vinci Experience Museum.
