Italian Great Stories is an initiative aimed at attracting international partners in the production of TV series to be shot in Italy and inspired by Italian literary works.
The project is promoted by Italian Film Commissions and APT (Association for Television Producers) with the coordination by Cinecittà Luce Institute, with the support of MiBAC (Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities), ITA-ICE, and SIAE (Italian Society of Authors and Publishers). Italian Great Stories wants to bring projects tied to Italian literary works and to the attention of American co-production partners in order to transpose them into TV series with an international mark. All of this will take place in Los Angeles on June 25th, 2019, at an event which will foster match-making between Italian producers who are developing TV series from Italian books of which they retain the rights, and American producers, studios, and distributors.
Projects, series, or miniseries made for TV and digital platforms, inspired by Italian works, will be admissible up to a maximum of nine projects.
The projects must have the following requirements:
- Purchase contract or literary rights of the work
- An international potential
- Covered costs for the project’s development
- The majority of the film shooting will have to take place in Italy
Italian producers who already have experience in the field and who have previously realised a series or movie which has already aired on one of the major TV channels will benefit from this project. Moreover, producers who have already bought right to an Italian literary work, who are planning on realising an audiovisual project from the aforementioned work, or who have already started developing the project, will benefit from Italian Great Stories. Priority will be given to projects which have already received the approval from a broadcaster or from a digital platform.
Proposals must be sent both in Italian and in English to the address info@italianfilmcommissions.it as follows:
- selection sheet by May 18th, 2019, at 11:59 PM;
- product sheet by May 24th, 2019, at 23:59 PM.
The selected producers will have the chance to participate to the networking event and business meeting one-to-one with American producers on June 25th, 2019. Travel and accommodation costs will be covered for an amount up to €3000. Projects will be selected by May 31st, 2019, by a commission made up by Italian Great Stories partners.
