Lazio Region has released the funds to promote cinema and audio-visual productions. The resources expected for 2019 add up to €22 million.
Lazio Region has announced its annual program for 2019 to promote the film and audio-visual industry. The strategic importance of this sector has led the Region to increase resources and push investments forward. The goal is to turn the Lazio region into a point of reference at national and European level. Here is how the funds will be mainly distributed in the 2019 program for cinema and audio-visual productions in the Lazio Region.
Lazio Cinema International, a project that has already financed 50 international co-productions, will allocate 7 million in July, and €10 million will be designated for 2019. For Italian cinema growth, the region will allocate €9 million, to which a further €2 million will be added from the revolving fund in support of young audio-visual companies in Lazio (low-interest loans to produce cinema and audiovisual works). One million euros will also be destined to improve technology and multifunctionality in cinema rooms. In addition, further resources will be allocated to preserving cinema works and audiovisual heritage through non-refundable contributions to film restoration and digitization.
Lazio Region will also support events and foundations that promote cinema and audio-visual works within the region, including MIA – International Audio-Visual Market itself, which, as stated on the Region’s website, “represented a very important progress in the last years towards an integrated workflow and an increasing international presence of this sector”. The region will also support initiatives dedicated to film projections in the cities and the new initiative to bring the Seventh Art into schools. The “Torno Subito” (Be Right Back) programme to train new talent and industry professionals has also been confirmed.
