Leone Film Group and Lotus Production launch the “Lotus Factory” project, a new department specialized in the creation of genre projects for cinema and TV.
Marco Belardi, Lotus chief, has in fact told Variety: “We are planning to make films of different genres from those that are usually produced in Italy”.
In particular, there are two projects on which Lotus Factory is focusing: on the one hand, a live action series intended for streaming platforms, focused on the origins of Santa Clause. The series is written by Nicola Abbatangelo, together with Fabio Guaglione and screenwriters Jim Capobianco (Ratatouille) and Robert Lence (Beauty and the Beast) have been recruited for its realization.
On the other hand, the Brazilian animator Sandro Cleuzo (Mary Poppins Returns) will collaborate for the animated film Fear Tales.
In addition, among other projects under development, Lotus Production is preparing for the production of Colt, a Stefano Sollima western based on an idea by Sergio Leone, co-produced by Lorenzo Mieli’s The Apartment. Shooting should start in January between Canada, Bulgaria and Italy.
