It would appear that Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount Global are working on a possible merger of the two companies. According to the Variety rumor, the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, David Zaslav, reportedly met with Paramount Global CEO Bob Bakish in New York to discuss it. The news, however, has not yet been confirmed by those directly involved.
The union of the two giants would encompass TV, movies, sports, and streaming, and they would combine their premium streaming services Max and Paramount+, effectively becoming fearsome rivals to Netflix, Disney+, and Hulu.
In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery would acquire movie franchises such as Terminator, Transformers, Mission: Impossible, Scream, and many more, and, for its part, Warner Bros. Pictures would put the DC Extended Universe films, Harry Potter, and Lord of the Rings on the plate.
In addition, the merger would also include all the businesses of the two companies: CNN, HBO, TNT, TBS, Discovery Channel, Cartoon Network, Food Network, HGTV, TLC as far as Warner Bros. Discovery and CBS, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon and BET for Paramount.
