At Italian Pavilion, during the Venice Film Festival, a new bilateral fund for co-development and co-production of Franco-Italian works was presented, with the support of the MiBAC and the French culture minister Franck Riester.
At the presentation there were Mario Turetta (MiBAC’s general director of cinema and audiovisual), Oliver Henrard (CNC’s deputy general director), Mariella Troccoli (director general of cinema and audiovisual direction) and Alberto Bonisoli (minister of culture).
This is a fund following the one launched in 2013 by the Mibac and the CNC, which over the course of six years and after 12 calls supported the development of 93 film projects (48 Italian and 45 French). With the new agreement announced in Venice, the allocation of the fund is doubled, reaching 1.5 million euros. MiBAC and CNC will contribute equally to the fund.
The intervention for the development of TV series will be extended and the film projects (even at an advanced stage) will be able to count on a maximum contribution of 200 thousand euros per project.
The first call for tenders will be launched on 12 September 2019 with a 31 October deadline.
