Non-repayable grants for feature film and TV production are arriving in Sicily. To be precise, 6,000,000 for film/television production films, TV series, TV series in animation, with fiction narrative content; 600,000 for documentaries, documentary TV series, TV series in animation with documentary content; 34,800 for short films, for a total of 6,634,800 euros in the years 2023-2024.
Thus, the Department of Tourism, Sports and Entertainment of the Region of Sicily, together with the Sicily Film Commission intend to strengthen local businesses and at the same time attract national and international productions, fostering the professional growth of those working in the sector and promoting the territory unique for its natural and cultural riches.
The commitment will be to strengthen that cultural and historical identity of a Region that in the past has given the world unique masterpieces of cinema without neglecting the commitment to support professionals and works in the audiovisual sector that will operate in the territory even if not expressly linked to the identity of the Island but capable of fostering that economic and employment boost that Sicily needs.
A key factor is that the grants will once again be financed with resources from the regional fund for cinema and audiovisuals and, therefore, Sicily will be the first region in Italy to sign an agreement with the Institute for Sports Credit, which will allow grant recipients to access, upon evaluation of creditworthiness, specific lines of financing for the realization of the co-financed project.
