MIA | Mercato Internazionale Audiovisivo, has become the main event of the Italian Film Industry, and its influence continues to grow and emerge on the international scene.
As a result, Lazio Region, with the collaboration of Roma Lazio Film Commission, has decided to launch a new edition of the “Lazio Cinema International” call in Rome. This call for entries is a regional action which, in 2017, will designate over 10 millions euros to promote international audio-visual co-productions.
Thanks to “Lazio Cinema International”, Lazio is able to assert itself as the ultimate Italian region devoted to cinema and among the leading European regions in terms of financing resources designated for audio-visual productions, with an annual allocation of over 22 million. Lazio is number one in the country in terms of the number of production companies within its territory and boasts a 23% increase in regional exports in 2016 compared to 2015.
All this shows not just the enormous potential of our industry when it comes to the production of high-quality audio-visual products, in which International professionals increasingly decide to invest, but also the ability of the regional institution to fully support the development of this potential.
Lazio Region has had no hesitation in backing International co-productions, which we consider the key instrument for a structural internationalization of our Film Industry.
But this is not all. Lazio Region has taken a series of steps devoted to the overall strengthening of the sector. Over recent months, the “Creatività 2020” (Creativity 2020) call has been launched to support competitiveness within the regional territory of the Film Industry, thanks to the financial boosting of the production and post-production companies in Lazio.
Lazio and Italy can count on a long tradition of businesses, ideas and talents that have made Italian cinema known all over the world, but are, at the same time, strongly linked to innovation. Production companies, strong of this tradition, release ongoing series of long feature films, documentaries and TV series of growing international success. Lazio Region supports these productions thanks to the “Lazio Cinema International” call and its other actions – like the annual regional fund for the production of Italian, European and International audio-visual products and the revolving fund in support of young audio-visual companies in Lazio – along with the promotion of numberless film festivals within the territory, making Rome and Lazio the home of International cinema.
