The Premio Franco Solinas, an international film writing competition, has closed its first phase and announced the 8 finalist projects out of 407 that arrived anonymously to protect the equal status of all contestants.
Selected projects will be awarded the Premio Franco Solinas Miglior soggetto of 1,500 at an awards ceremony to be held in La Maddalena from Sept. 20-24, 2023. Authors will have three months to develop the screenplay. A second jury will then award the Franco Solinas Best Sceneggiatura of 8,000 euros and the Claudia Sbarigia Scholarship of 1,000 euros for the best talent in narrating female characters and the female universe. The prize endowments are made available by SIAE – Società Italiana degli Autori e degli Editori.
Since 1985 the prize has been the most important award for the discovery and promotion of new talent. As Annamaria Granatello president and director of the Premio Solinas emphasizes, “The Premio Solinas innovates starting from ideas and stories, creates the conditions for the emergence of talent and prepares new authors to face the challenges of the global market.”
