Roberta Torrehas recently finished filming her new film set in Rome, Riccardo va all’Inferno. In addition to the protagonists Massimo Ranieri and Sonia Bergamasco, the film stars Silvia Gallerano, Silvia Calderoni, Teodoro Giambanco, Michelangelo Dalisi, Ivan Franek, Matilde Diana andTommaso Ragno. The movie will be a ‘spectral and pop’ musical in accordance with Torre’s filmography which has always been intentionally kitsch and set in the South of Italy, especially in Palermo, the director’s hometown. The film tells the story of Riccardo Mancini, a man confined to a mental hospital for years. Once outside, he starts seeking revenge against his own criminal family, including his brothers and his very bad Queen Mother (Sonia Bergamasco).
The film is an Italian-French co-production (AGIDI, Rosebud Entertainment Pictures, with the contribution ofMiBACT, in association withSanfelice 1893 Banca Popolare, with the support ofLazio region and Europa Creativa) and it has been recognised as cultural interest from the General Direction for Cinema – MiBACT. The movie will be distributed by Medusa.
