This Saturday, October 22, was held the Award ceremony of the 17th edition of the Roma Film Fest.

 

As part of the Progressive Cinema Competition, a jury composed of the filmmaker and cartoonist Marjane Satrapi, the actor and director Louis Garrel, filmmakers Juho Kuosmanen and Pietro Marcello, and the producer Gabrielle Tana, assigned six awards.

Best Film to Janvāris (January) by Viesturs Kairišs, produced in Lithuania by Artbox, Latvian Film Fund, Mistrus Media and Staron Film and distributed internationally by The Yellow Affair.

Grand Jury Price to Jeong-Sun by Jeong Ji-hye, produced in South Korea by Choi Won-uk and distributed by M-Line Distribution.

Best Director to Viesturs Kairišs for Janvāris (January).

Best Actress – “Monica Vitti” Award to Kim Kum-Soon for Jeong-sun.

Best Actor – “Vittorio Gassman” Award to Kārlis Arnolds Avots for Janvāris (January).

Best Screenplay to Andrea Bagney for Ramona, produced in Spain by Tortilla Films and distributed by Filmin.

Special Jury Prize (selected among the categories best screenwriting, cinematography, editing, and original score) to Foudre by Carmen Jaquier for Marine Atlan cinematography.

Lastly, Jury Special Mention to the actress Lilith Grasmug for her performance in Foudre, produced in Switzerland by Close Up Films, distributed by Sister Distribution.

 

As part of Best Comedy – “Ugo Tognazzi” Award a jury, headed by filmmaker Carlo Verdone and composed of the actress Marisa Paredes and the writer, director and actress Teresa Mannino, has bestowed two awards.

The “Ugo Tognazzi” Award for Best Comedy to What’s Love Got To Do With It? by Shekhar Kapur, produced by Instinct Productions, StudioCanal e Working Title Films, distributed currently by Ascot Elite Entertainment Group (Switzerland) and The Searchers (Belgium and Netherlands).

A Special Mention for the Ugo Tognazzi Award for Best Comedy to Ramona by Andrea Bagney.

 

As part of BNL BNP Paribas Best First Feature Awards a jury, headed by the filmmaker and screenwriter Julie Bertuccelli and composed of the filmmaker Roberto De Paolis and the film critic Daniela Michel, has assigned three awards.

The BNL BNP PARIBAS Best First Feature Award to Causeway by Lila Neugebauer, produced in the USA by A24, Excellent Cadaver, IAC Films and IPR.VC, distributed in the US by A24 and internationally by Apple Original Films and TV+.

Two Special Mentions for the BNL BNP PARIBAS Best First Feature Award respectively to Ramona by Andrea Bagney and to Foudre by Carmen Jaquier.

 

Lastly, the FS – Ferrovie dello Stato Audience Award was awarded to SHTTL by Ady Walter, produced in France and Ukraine by Wild Tribe Films, Apple Tree Vision (Co-Production), Forecast Pictures and UPHub.
