Yesterday 23rd October 2023 saw the conclusion of negotiations for the allocation of the Serie A television rights. Sky and DAZN will broadcast the matches of the Italian football league until 2029.
The agreement provides for the payment of €900 million per year to Serie A, of which €700 million from DAZN and €200 million from Sky for a total of €4.5 billion over five years. To this sum will be added approximately a further billion through the revenue sharing mechanism by which, once the €750 million revenue threshold has been exceeded, Dazn has guaranteed that it will share the compensation 50% with the clubs.
For this fee, DAZN will broadcast ten matches per league round, of which seven will be exclusive and three co-exclusive with Sky. The Italian TV platform has also been guaranteed the four big matches of the championship.
Yesterday’s club meeting recorded 17 out of 20 votes in favour of the offer, with two against and one abstaining. The League’s exclusive channel, a solution envisaged in the event that an agreement was not reached with the two audiovisual companies, will therefore not be created.
