Sky has unveiled the new content for the 2022-2023 season, which starting this summer will once again feature Sky Original titles and exclusive world premieres, including TV series, big shows, cinema, entertainment, and documentaries.
The start of the new season is just around the corner, and it begins as early as August with House of the Dragon, the highly anticipated first spin-off of Game of Thrones, which ushers in a great new season of TV series. But the line-up of original series and cinema content proposed by Sky, will also have other major players.
Prominent among the many titles presented are Il Grande Gioco, about the world of soccer trading and sports agents, with Francesco Montanari again starring in a Sky TV series 14 years after Romanzo Criminale. The D’Innocenzo Brothers’ first TV series, Dostoevsky, developed in-house by Sky Studios’ Italian team. L’arte della gioia, Valeria Golino’s absolute debut as director of a TV series, from the scandalous posthumous novel by Goliarda Sapienza set in rural Sicily in the early 1900s; Hanno ucciso l’Uomo Ragno, a dramedy about the story of Max Pezzali and Mauro Repetto, the 883, directed by Sydney Sibilia.
2023 will be the year of other interesting and highly anticipated new releases: from Call My Agent – Italy, an adaptation of the French cult Dix Pour Cent, and Django, the contemporary reinterpretation of Corbucci’s classic western directed (among others) by Francesca Comencini, to Unwanted starring Marco Bocci, from Fabrizio Gatti’s investigative book about his journey along the migrant routes, “Bilal,” adapted by Stefano Bises.
As for films, they range from Francesco Carrozzini’s The Hanging Sun – Midnight Sun, from Jo Nesbø’s bestseller, starring Alessandro Borghi, to I Viaggiatori, a film by Ludovico Di Martino starring a group of boys who travel back in time to 1939, to Benito Mussolini’s fascist Rome.
