Set the date in fall 2017 for one of the most anticipated Netflix titles of the year: based on the novel by Bonini and De Cataldo and prequel to the 2015 film by Stefano Sollima, Suburra (Cattleya, Rai Fiction) will be distributed on the streaming platform and then on Rai1.
Divided in ten episodes, the series will tell the genesis of what happened in the movie and the origin of some characters. The film stars Claudia Gerini, Filippo Nigro and Alessandro Borghi; the latter is working on Alessio Cremonini’s Sulla Mia Pelle too: he plays Stefano Cucchi, while Jasmine Trinca will be his sister Ilaria. Borghi will also play the “godfather” of the next edition of the Venice Film Festival. Borghi talks about his character (Number 8) in good conscience: “you have more time to build your character in a series, and I took it all. Suburra will be watched worldwide and I didn’t want to work superficially”.
Written by Daniele Cesarano, Barbara Petronio, Ezio Abbate, Fabrizio Bertelli e Nicola Guaglianone, the series is divided in 10 episodes and itwill be directed by Michele Placido, Giuseppe Capotondi and Andrea Molaioli who confirm that “you’ve never seen a series like this, telling Rome this way: this is a real innovation in the TV language”.
