The shape of water triumphed at Oscars. After Venice Film Festival and despite the disputes about plagiarism, the film of Guillermo Del Toro won the more wanted awards: Oscar for the best film, best director, best production design and original score.
However, Luca Guadagnino film has won the Oscar for the best adapted screenplay: the last time that Italy won this award was in 1988 (The last emperor directed by Bernardo Bertolucci). All the other previsions were confirmed: Gary Oldman won as best actor in Darkest hour; Frances McDormand as best actress and Sam Rockwell as best actor in a supporting role in Three Billboards.
