The 41st edition of the Torino Film Festival, the last directed by Steve Della Casa before the handover with Giulio Base, will take place from November 24 to December 2. Of the 181 films in the Official Selection, 128 will be features, 13 medium-length films, 40 shorts, 59 world premieres, 10 international premieres, 3 European premieres and 68 Italian premieres.
During the press conference held yesterday, November 9, the guests of this edition were announced: among them live on Hollywood Party, Rai Radio3 – maestro Pupi Avati. Then again Oliver Stone (who will receive from the National Cinema Museum the Stella della Mole Award), Fabrizio Gifuni, Christian Petzold to Caterina Caselli, Paolo Conte, Kyle Eastwood, Drusilla Foer, Mario Martone, Barbara Ronchi, Baloji, Thomas Cailley, Roberto Faenza and Laura Morante. Godmother of the opening ceremony actress Catrinel Marlon.
Undersecretary for Culture Lucia Borgonzoni, who was present at the conference, said:
“I really wanted to be here today because I think TFF has its own peculiarity: it is loved by the city, but with an international scope, and that is not a given. – Turin looks forward to the festival because it is a community event: also important to bring young people closer to cinema; and then TFF manages to unite the different planes, indie films and more pop films, capable of bringing even more people together; it manages to unite a whole and also because of this it grows more and more.”
During this edition, a full retrospective dedicated to Sergio Citti will also be presented. For the occasion, the volume SERGIO CITTI – La poesia scellerata del cinema edited by Matteo Pollone and Caterina Taricano (co-published: Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia – Edizioni Sabinae) will be published.
