The 77th Venice International Film Festival line-up has been announced.
“The heart of the exhibition is safe and the Italian selection, in line with past editions, is of great quality: a good sign for our cinema that is experiencing a moment of great vitality and experimentation”, as said by the Venice International Film Festival Director Alberto Barbera.
In addition to the previously announced film by Lacci by Daniele Luchetti and the documentary by Andrea Segre, Molecole, four other Italian films are in Competition: Emma Dante’s Le Sorelle Macaluso, the documentary by Gianfranco Rosi Notturno, an Italy-France-Germany co-production; Miss Marx by Susanna Nicchiarelli; Padre Nostro by Claudio Noce.
In the Out of Competition section, Assandira by Salvatore Mereu, produced by Viacolvento, Rai Cinema, with the contribution of MiBACT, with the support of the Sardegna Film Commission Foundation, and presented at MIA co-production market in 2016; in the frame of Orizzonti, instead, Apples by Christos Nikou, produced by Boo Prodcutions, Lava Films and presented at MIA C EU Soon 2019; Pietro Castellitto’s The Predators, produced by Fandango and Rai Cinema and presented at MIA What’s Next Italy 2019.
