Viaplay, the Scandinavian streaming platform owned by Viaplay Group, will soon be launched in the US and Canada.
The direct-to-consumer streaming service will be available in the United States from 22 February and in Canada from 7 March 2023. This will make the platform active in 13 countries, to which Austria, Germany and Switzerland should be added during this year. A date for the Italian market, however, is yet to be planned.
Viaplay will be able to offer users a catalogue consisting of documentaries, TV series and films of European origin, including a large number of Nordic Noir such as Furia, Jägarna, and Trom.
The cost of the service will be USD 6.99 per month for the US market and CAD 5.99 for the Canadian market.
