As part of the Cinema and TV Series program of COMICON Naples, “COMICON Animation & VFX Hub” is born: a new point of aggregation and enhancement of the realities operating in the field of visual effects and animation of which Italy is one of the main European and international hubs.
Among the most important guests is the director and visual effects artist, Victor Perez, who will hold a masterclass curated by MIA | International Audiovisual Market, which has activated an editorial partnership with Comicon as early as 2022, to create synergies between the two events to promote and share IPs coming from the world of comics and conceived for the creative audiovisual industry.
Perez, an award-winning director and VFX Supervisor is known for his work on films such as The Dark Knight Rises, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Rogue one: a Star Wars Story, and is now one of the most highly regarded international professionals in the world of Visual Effects.
The masterclass, titled Photorealism in Cinematic Visual Effects, will be held on Monday, May 1st. Bringing his past and current professional experiences as examples, Perez will talk about how the main goal for visual effects artists is photorealism: to create the impossible while still making it look real, using the art of compositing different images, even computer-generated ones, to appear coherent, applying the laws of the physics of light – optics – in the service of storytelling. During the Master Class, Perez will present some practical examples and live demonstrations related to Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows and to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story that show the methodology in action and will tell about what he is working on in this time.
